Tuesday was pretty uneventful. Jim brought home pizza for supper. Romero’s was good tonight. Nick was home much of the day except when he went to Douglasville for a pair of fans for his computer.
I was very sleepy all day but didn’t take a nap. I was hoping that would help me sleep hard and not dream. I woke with bad dreams again. I’m not sure what these were about but I assume it was health related. I do that if I’ve seen too many hospital commercials just before falling asleep. Of course, I was quite upset about the ordeal with the vet and I perceived a ‘veiled threat’ so that might have caused it, too. Again, I don’t know what I dreamed. I woke about 6:45 a bit shaky. Satan attacks me when I sleep. I honestly believe that. I know what to do, tho. I have a printed out Bible verse I used to put under my pillow and remind myself of it as I fall asleep. ‘I will lie down in peace and sleep. For You alone, oh LORD, will keep me safe’. I need to do that again. Focus on peace and safety and God’s protection and keep those dreams at bay!
I’m concerned I’ll forget our Christmas Party on Thursday night. That’s an odd night and an odd time and I just need to do a www.Memotome.com reminder so I don’t forget! Love that FREE website! It really comes in handy and I use it for everything.
Ah, well, I got some cash back from Kohls, 20% off for using my credit card, 15% off for no reason at all, 15% off for setting up sales alerts to my phone and can use it all tomorrow. Two of the % off couldn’t be used at the same time, but I still saved huge money. I added a 2nd men’s sweater and it ended up costing me $12.00 for a $79.00 men’s sweater with free shipping. I saved $129.00 and paid under $50.00 for everything, including tax AND I get $10 cash back to use after Christmas.
It’s getting very cold at night now. Mid 20°’s most nights. I sleep with one window cracked. I love the cold, crisp air!
I’m so glad the Christmas Concert is done for the year! Those 12 hour days became 15 hour days of no one to talk to. Jim said attendance was lower this year. Probably due to it being on Sunday and Monday night instead of Saturday and Sunday.
Jim has off today from tutoring. He works two afternoons at Mason Creek and two afternoons at Yeager from 4 til 6:30. He’s a good, good man.
Scooter was acting really weird last night just before bed. He’d ask to go out but wanted me to go into the yard with him then he’d dig in the red clay and sit. I think the final dose of worm treatment may have caused some stinging. Do they make Preparation H for dogs? I don’t have any Witch Hazel wipes or I’d use some for him. If he’s acting weird later today I’ll call the vet and ask about it. He’s eating well, drinking well and seems fine other than that. Like I said earlier, we wormed HIM because Daisy had been reinfected or not successfully cleared of Tapeworms. They’re both clean as a whistle now! Banfield’s takes such good, good care of them. With the Wellness Plan, you get so much that you’d never get at some country boy clinic. Scooter’s had EKG’s, ultra sounds, blood work, rectal check, 2 checks for worms, heart worm test…… all included in the basic package for older dogs. Daisy hasn’t had the EKG or ultra sound but she’s just turned 1 year old. They’re sleeping already!
Have you finished your decorating? I still haven’t found the two new boxes of net lights for our bushes. They’re probably in the huge closet under the stairs but I cut my pointy finger on my right hand today and had to bandage it up because I’d gouged enough that it was bleeding quite a bit. Can’t dig thru boxes, sleeping bags, tents, Easter baskets and stuff like that with one hand. I’ll get Jim to look this afternoon if I remember it! I wanted to get those up before it got really cold out.
Romans 8:6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
Once Nick is awake, I’m going to have him take me to pick up some things at Wal-Mart and then to mail the kids Christmas items. I don’t like taking chances of things not arriving on time! I hate it when I can’t get out to get a stamp and a birthday card (like my Daddy’s card this year) gets there late!
So Christmas dinner will be turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce but I want to do something different, too. Oh, and I think I’m going to make the dishes in those disposable aluminum pans so I can send home left-overs with Mary and Jon. I don’t like throwing things out! While Jim’s home, we’ll make several kinds of cookies, too.
Well, it’s only 45 minutes until the Georgia Board of Veterinary Medicine has their bi-monthly meeting. They’ll vote to approve yesterday’s Investigative Committee minutes. I sure hope to see they took action against my old vet. Today’s minutes won’t be approved and posted until mid February. I’ll be watching for those minutes, tho! Protect your pets! Where ever you live and whomever your vet, you can go online and check out any actions or problems with a vet, say in South Carolina or wherever you live, and make sure they have a license in that state. I saw two vets in South Georgia who have cease and desist orders because they have opened clinics and are not licensed vets. A man and a woman in different towns. It didn’t say they were not capable doctors, just that they didn’t have licenses. They may be fine doctors but they may have also moved their businesses across state lines and just never applied. I don’t know the details, but do be cautious. Also, when looking for a vet, don’t just take the word of one person. They may be best friends or work for the vet. Don’t ask the office for a list of patients. Ask on Facebook or at your church. Get a number of opinions
That reminds me, Daisy is due for her FREE 6 month comprehensive exam at Banfield Pet Hospital in PetSmart and I need to schedule that. They’re open 7 days a week and you can drop off your pet if you need to (FOR FREE) and the vet will call you or talk to you when you pick up. We always just go in for an exam instead. I’m thinking school break for us.
Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer
1 cup of Whole Milk
1 cup of Heavy Whipping Cream
3- 4 tablespoons of pumpkin puree (canned is fine)
1 teaspoon of pumpkin spice
4 table Maple Syrup
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 teaspoon of cinnamon (this is extra and can be skipped)
Whisk milk, whipping cream, pumpkin, syrup, and spices together over medium heat. When it gets steamy remove from heat and add in the vanilla. Use a strainer to transfer the cream into a jar or pitcher. Do NOT skip this step.
Hope you have a super special day and are almost ready for Christmas! Remember to enjoy this Holy Season and be kind and Christ-like to all you meet.
