Did you have a peaceful Christmas? I hope so!
We went to our son and daughter in law’s church for their Christmas Eve service. It was lovely. We sang the old carols from the hymnal and the pastor preached on the names of Jesus from prophecy, mention of Him in the beginning and through Revelation. It was a very good sermon. The service seemed to be over quickly and then I saw on the clock that it had been 1 1/2 hours!
Christmas, we slept until around 8 and then Jim and I got up. We waited until Erin and Nick got up to open presents.
Jim got the turkey in and took care of that for us all day. It was so moist and we have enough left overs for the week!
Erin and I made stuffing, yams, green beans, and the things to go along with it all. The table was beautiful. The photos on my phone didn’t show the metallic strands in my off white table cloth or the red metallic runner but it was just lovely.
Mary and Jon came around 1:30 and stayed until around 7 I think. I wasn’t really paying attention to the clock. There was only six of us this year. Our meal was easy but awesome. Jim loves Dairy Queen so instead of a bunch of pies, I got a triple layer DQ ice cream cake. Everyone said it was awesome.
Starting a serious diet today. I’ve been on thyroid meds for about 6 weeks and no weight loss. I read it can take a while to lose weight and some people lose no weight and the max is usually 10%. Ten percent would be awesome. I go on Jan. 4th or 5th for my TSH blood work and Jan. 8th for a follow up with Dr. Zenaity. I should get my thyroid ultrasound results sometime this week. It was done late Friday so I’m sure doctor won’t get the results for a few days. He said if it was worrisome that he’d call me immediately. From what I’ve been reading, I probably need other blood tests and possibly a 2nd medication.
I don’t think I’ve told you before, but Jim was becoming overwhelmed with being with children six days a week most of the year and had asked me if we could move into a Life Group and give up teaching Sunday School. I wanted to complete the year, but that’s next August, and he wasn’t happy with that. He wouldn’t go into a class without me, so I gave my notice December 16th and it’s effective Jan. 7th. We already were affiliated the last 3 years with a class that had split from our old Life Group when it got too large. We’ve ‘done life’ with them these many years and love each and everyone in the class, so we’ll be attending that second service beginning January 7th. We’ve formally been members at Ephesus Baptist for 7 years the first week of February.
I took a nap this afternoon and woke feeling like I have a cold. I took some Sudaphed and aspirin and hope I can stop this before it begins.
Jim’s been working on completing one of his audio-books. He enjoys doing it and it’s so awesome that he can do it whenever he feels like it, even middle of the night or a few chapters here and there. I’m so glad he read about this need and that he already had everything he needed to do it and get paid.
It’s only 3 days until Nick and I celebrate our shared birthday. There’s a chance of ice or sleet on the 28th into the 29th so I need to find out what he’d like as our birthday meal. He’s not a ‘cake’ person and neither am I, plus with me trying so hard to lose weight, cake isn’t a good idea. Nick will turn 23 and I turn 67. He was born on my 44th birthday and the best present I ever got! He has off that day from work, so we’ll all be home.
Hope you continue to enjoy this blessed season and time with those you love. See you soon for
